I’m so excited to share my latest Stitch Fix with you. This is my eleventh box and I’m just as pleased with this one as I have been with all my others.

Being an Influencer for Stitch Fix has been a lot of fun. I’ve had the opportunity to share my experience with you and any promotions that the company has to offer. When Stitch Fix started they limited themselves to serving only sizes 0-14. The company has expanded since its birth to now offer petite, men’s, and now plus sizes as well. If sizing has been an issue or held you back from joining in the past now is the time to give it a shot. I’ve seen some of the plus size collection, Ladies, and the clothes are gorgeous. From dresses to tunics to leggings the pieces are made to compliment ALL body types.

As for my Stitch Fix #11…

1. Shan Color Block Hem Knit Top by Olive & Oak

This is my first piece from Olive & Oak and I really love it. It’s a soft tunic that covers my bottom and front so it pairs well with leggings. I bought this top with no hesitation because I loved the fit and I love the plum color.

2. Celestia Wrapped Circle Pendant by Romolo

This necklace is gorgeous. It’s been awhile since I’ve kept any jewelry so I decided to add this piece to my collection. Plus, it looks perfect with the tunic I decided to keep as well.

3. Kali Printed Legging by Rune

I loved these leggings. From their fleece inner layer to their sleek athletic outer appearance they were perfect. They were so perfect in fact that months ago I bought another pair which were almost identical. So although I loved these leggings they didn’t make the cut. If they had been another color then I would have probably kept them.

These last two pieces did not make the cut either. Although the print of the skirt was cute the fit was not flattering on me. It was a little too long and the waistband was too loose. I tend to either wear maxi skirts or ones cut just above the knee since I’m fairly short. My height is in my torso so anything in between distorts my height and my legs. If the print of the skirt would have been on a maxi or shorter skirt I most definitely would have kept it.

As far as the shirt, again it was really cute, but I decided against the purchase.

One thing I like about Stitch Fix is that you get the opportunity to shop within your budget. I always like to give myself a limit before I open the box. It can be hard to stay within that budget when I love so much of what they send me, but in the end decisions have to be made. There is no cost to return items, and you have three days to make a decision before the package is due at the post office.

There is a styling fee attached to each fix ($20) which can be applied to any items that you choose to purchase. Also, when you sign up for Stitch Fix you have an opportunity to share your budget and style preferences with the personal stylists working for you.

Valentines Day will be here tomorrow and many of us are scrambling in search of a gift for that special someone. It isn’t too late to order a Stitch Fix gift card. Each of these five outfits was put together with the help of my personal stylists at Stitch Fix.  I started my journey as a Stitch Fix Influencer this fall and I’ve enjoyed the opportunities to spread love for their clothes and company with all of you who read my blog and stop by from time to time. Stitch Fix has updated my wardrobe and helped me to develop my personal style. Because of Stitch Fix, I am both comfortable and professional as I teach my high school English and Honors World History classes.

I’m looking forward to 80 more days of outfit inspiration with the help of Stitch Fix.

Keep It Simple This Valentine’s Day

In three weeks couples all over the world will be celebrating Valentine’s Day.

I’ve never been a huge fan of the holiday. Call me cynical, but in my opinion, couples with a healthy relationship should be honoring their bond daily. February 14th is no magical day. It should be a day like any other where gratitude is expressed and moments are cherished.

I also realize that for some, Valentine’s Day can be painful. It’s a reminder that another year has gone by without finding a spouse. It’s a reminder that you thought you’d spend forever with someone and it didn’t work out. It’s a reminder that the person you love was taken too soon. It’s a day that so many try to forget despite social media and marketing tactics thrusting reminders in their faces.

If you are in a committed relationship–make it a good day. It doesn’t have to be over-the-top, but remind your partner that you love them (as you should every day.) Maybe do something different or exchange a small gift. Cherish every day together, not just February 14ths.

If you are one of those people who wish you could skip work and all human interactions on this day I hear you. Gather some of your other single friends and celebrate where you are on your journeys. Lift each other up with words of encouragement, laughter, and a glass of wine. Know that there is nothing wrong with being alone on Valentine’s Day. It’s a day like all the others and don’t let anything make you feel like you are “less than” because you are single.

Stitch Fix #10

It’s hard to believe that this is my tenth Stitch Fix since Fall of 2015. I have my fixes arrive every other month. Ten boxes in and I still get excited when the mail man drops off my box.

One thing I love about Stitch Fix is that I get the opportunity to communicate with my stylist prior to my fix being sent out. I can communicate with her either directly through my Stitch Fix account or through my style board on Pinterest.

This time around she sensed my desire for sweaters and scarves as I had spent some time scouring Pinterest for new sweater styles. I must say my stylist nailed it this time! Every piece was adorable. Luckily, some of my family members had purchased Stitch Fix gift cards for me so I could manage to splurge a bit this time around.

Here is a look at my pieces:

Yes-

1. Brookline Mix Material Sweater (Market and Spruce)

The color, the fit, and the style of this sweater made it an instant “YES!” for purchase. I love the plum color and the satin under layer in the back. This sweater will go well with several accessories I already own like the blanket scarf in the background. I love this sweater and am sure that it will be a new staple in my winter wardrobe.

2. Jessika Cowl Neck Poncho (RD Style)

I’ve been hoping for an over-sized, cowl neck since my last fix. I love the length and color of this top and I know it will pair well with so many things. I like it as is, but can also see myself adding a long sleeve shirt underneath for extra warmth. It is very comfortable and seems well put together. I’ve scored another new favorite for the season.

3. Trissen Ribbed Knit Top (En Creme)

As cute as this top was I decided to return it. It’s a piece I could see myself wearing, but with financial limitations I had to say no. I always have a number in mind before I open a box and I try not to spend over that limit. Having said “yes” to sweaters means that I reached that limit a little sooner than if I had passed on one or both of them. So although I really liked the color and fit of this top I forced myself to pass.

4. Alpine Plaid Wrap Scarf (Look by M)

This scarf went perfectly with the knit top. The color schemes were similar and the fabrics were perfect compliments. The reason I returned this scarf, however, is because over Christmas I got a brand new blanket scarf in similar colors (navy and orange-Look). As a perk for being a Stitch Fix Influencer I received a blanket scarf from the company. It was an unexpected Christmas present that I have already gotten a lot of wear out of.

5. Joel Popover Knit Dress (Hailey 23)

This layered dress is actually one-piece. It was unique and comfortable, but sacrifices have to be made sometimes. If I already owned a pair of navy leggings I may have been able to justify this purchase, but in order to make it work in a winter wardrobe it would require leggings.

Being a part of the Stitch Fix Influencer program has been such a positive experience. I have met so many new people and had the opportunity to answer questions and point people toward a company that I have loved myself.

For the first time ever my Stitch Fix actually snuck up on me and I was completely surprised when I found my box on my porch after school. I had been so caught up in my life, new diet, sick child, and school work to remember that it was about time for my next Stitch Fix to arrive.

Around the holiday season I have to tighten the budget a bit so I want you to know upfront that since it had slipped my mind I wasn’t prepared to drop a bunch of money on this Stitch Fix. In the end I only ended up purchasing one piece, but that doesn’t mean I totally hated my items. I was still rather pleased with what I received, but in November I tend to focus more on buying for others than for myself.

Here’s a look into my box.

1. Elisa Dress (Collective Concepts)/Sutro Open Knit Infinity Scarf (Octavia)

The wrap style dress is so beautiful and elegant. I love the fall hues and the fit of this piece. It’s a dress that can so easily go from professional to casual with the right accents. It pairs perfectly with the color of the scarf. I only ended up buying the dress, but if I had more of a budget to work with the scarf would have been my second choice. The color is very hot right now and it could be worn so many ways.

2. Rufus Crew Neck Blouse (41 Hawthorn)

I wasn’t a huge fan of the fit of this top. My torso is a bit long so the panel for the shirt hit in an awkward place. The black panel at the bottom was see through and I just felt like the whole top was unflattering to my body shape/figure. I loved the color scheme. Black and white tops are so easy to accessorize  and dress up, but I just felt like the fit of this top made it one not worth purchasing.

3. Locklyn Cowl Neck Pullover (RD Style)

This was another top that didn’t fit quite right. The shirt was too short for my torso, so much so that if I were to lift my hands my stomach would show. It was an instant “no” for me for that very reason. If it was longer, I would have liked the concept. It was cute and warm.

4. Hampton Corduroy Skinny Jean (Edyson)

I will spare you the image of myself wearing these pants. They did not quite fit. I’m not sure if it is due to the fact that they are skinny jeans, but they were tight in all the wrong places.

It was kind of disappointing that only two pieces actually fit in this Stitch Fix, but it’s probably better for my bank account that it worked out that way. I really didn’t have the cash to buy my whole box this go around so I was happy with the outcome. I did not leave a note for my stylist this time around (like I said, it slipped my mind.) It is important to communicate your wishes with your stylist so I blame myself for the fact that I didn’t end up loving more of my pieces.

A year ago I embarked on a rewarding journey with Stitch Fix. I heard some friends talking about this online service that sends clothes to your front door with no pressure to purchase. I went home and did some research and by the end of the day I was signed up as a Stitch Fix customer. My experience with Stitch Fix has been nothing but positive. I’ve loved nearly every piece shipped to my home. My stylist and I have begun an open dialogue about pieces I’d like to see in my fixes. To top it all off, I became a Stitch Fix Influencer in August.

This is a company that I have loved more with each fix. Every box feels tailored to my style and body type. I’m so excited to share with you my fix #8. This is the first fix where I have purchased EVERY item.

1. Mark Twisted Lead Hinge Bracelet (Romolo)

I’m always on the lookout for gold jewelery. I love the way this hinge bracelet lays and the fact that it pairs well with my Alex and Ani collection.

2. Adorra Skinny Jean (Just Black)


One of the first pairs of skinny jeans to really fit my body well would be these. I’ve always wanted to wear skinny jeans, but because of the proportions of my body they’ve just not fit well. I’ve settled for leggings or jeggings in the past, but this pair of true skinny jeans has me feeling all sorts of good vibes about the size of my hips and thighs.

3. Annaway Cable Knit Sweater (RD Style)


A cute, basic sweater is hard to come by so I knew better than to pass up an opportunity to own this adorable knit sweater. I think the colors make it easy to accessorize. It is fairly versatile as well. I’m so stoked about this piece.

4. Gusta Two Pocket Top (Skies Are Blue)


Plaid is all the rage this season. You can never have too much plaid in the fall so this quality two-pocket, plaid top will get plenty of wear. I can’t wait to pair this top with my new skinny jeans!

5. Ilaria Crochet Trim Tunic (Alice Blue)


I specifically asked my stylist to send me a tunic that I could wear as the seasons transition. This tunic is absolute perfection. With its flowing sleeves and crochet details this top will pair easily with just about any bottoms or accessories one can fathom. I’m looking forward to trying this top out with some patterned leggings, my skinny jeans, and a pair of jeggings.

It’s always a great day when I arrive home to a cute teal box on my porch. I know that within that box five pieces of adorable fashion and jewelry are just waiting for me to try them on. And I know I say this each time, but this was definitely my best Stitch Fix yet. I’m really starting to feel like my stylist and I are both on the same wavelength. It helps that I give her access to my Pinterest board and that I have opportunities to dialogue with her before each fix is sent.

Lately, I’ve had several people ask for details about Stitch Fix so here’s a quick reminder about the company and how it works:

What is StitchFix?: StitchFix is an online personal stylist program. As the customer you begin by filling out a profile about yourself and your sizes on the StitchFix website. From this profile a team of stylists selects five unique pieces and sends them in the mail on a regular basis (the duration of which you can decide).

How does it work?: In order to receive your fix you must first complete a personal survey where you list details about your unique style and preferences and answer questions created to make your experience with StitchFix the best it can be. Next, you can schedule how often you’d like to receive your fix in the mail. I chose to not over commit to something I was unsure of so I chose the option of receiving my box once every other month.

How much does it cost?: There is a $20 stylist fee for each fix that ships to your home. That fee can be applied to any pieces that you decide to keep from that shipment. After that original $20 fee each time you only pay for what you want to purchase. If you choose to purchase all five pieces in the StitchFix box you receive a 25% off discount on your order.

What if I don’t like something?: The StitchFix company encourages you to try on every item. Anything that does not fit or that you don’t wish to purchase can be returned in a prepaid priority mail bag that is sent in each StitchFix at no cost to you. You have three days from the arrival of your box to complete the online checkout and resend any items you do not wish to keep. In order to checkout you must visit your account on their website and comment about each piece. If you choose not to keep something write why that piece was undesirable and that helps the stylists find better options in the future.

  1. Kebede Mixed Material Chambray Top (Skies are Blue)

    This top is so adorable. I love the back and the detail on the front. I also love that it will pair well with just about any pants or leggings. It is both fun and casual, but can easily be dressed up with the right accessories.

    2. Jahana Cargo Vest  (Market & Spruce)

    I have been wanting a cargo vest for a really long time. I have struggled to find one that I love the way I love this one by Market & Spruce. Not only is this one beautiful, but it is longer than most I’ve tried on. I prefer for my vests to be longer than the tops I wear underneath to create a balanced layered look. Also, this vest has a hood which can be removed if desired. The pockets are deep. The waist is feminine. And I cannot wait until fall to wear the heck out of this vest. I love it!!

3. Finnegan Cuffed Short (Dear John)

These shorts were so comfortable. Made from a stretchy khaki fabric they were flexible and light. I loved the look, but unfortunately not the fit. These shorts didn’t get to join my wardrobe collection, but I did love them. It was a difficult choice, but they were a little too tight in some areas (mostly my backside).

4. Katniss Crochet Yoke Top (Fun2Fun)

How fun is the print of this shirt? I absolutely love it. I also love that this shirt could be worn with leggings, shorts, dress pants, or a skirt. It has so many options and is light and comfortable. I chose to wear it yesterday on a date night with my hubby, and then to a meeting with some former students about college. I love how versatile it is and I’m a sucker for a fun print.

5. Eloise Knit Maxi Dress (Gilli)

This Grecian styled Maxi dress was stunning. I loved the back of the dress and the fit at the waist. It was a bit long in length and a little over my budget. The style was so me, but I had to send this one back in order to keep a sound conscience. (I set a budget each time before even opening the box to be sure I don’t spend too much–its easy to do)

It was a beautiful summery day when my newest Stitch Fix made its way to my doorstep. Eager to get packing for my summer vacation I anticipated the box’s arrival. I knew that my stylist would have some cute and trendy summer pieces picked out just for me and she was sure not to disappoint. Here’s a look at my sixth fix:

1. Rinald Front Pocket Blouse (Fun2Fun)

This sleeveless blouse was a perfect cut and style for my wardrobe. It is simple with its nautical anchor pattern and can easily be paired with countless accessories and bottoms. I think this shirt would pair well with last month’s TOMS to bring out a pop of color. Of course I kept this piece.

2. Elda Beaded Drop Earrings (Nakamol)

These cute earrings were handmade by local Thai artists. Although adorable, I found it hard to pay $38.00 for a pair of simple earrings.

3. Becker V-Neck Blouse (Alice Blue)

This floral top was super cute and the pattern was a lot of fun, however, this is another piece that I sent back to Stitch Fix. I did so because of the fit of the top. You can’t tell too much because of the angle of the picture, but this shirt was really tight in certain areas and after a little wiggle test it didn’t prove itself as a comfortable piece. As a busy mom-on-the-go comfort is even more important than fashion. So after a quick change this shirt found itself in the return envelope.

4. Pedrine Keyhole Back Top (Renee C)

This fun navy and orange blouse was another great fit and adorable print. It paired well with the skirt which was also part of the fix. I could see myself wearing this top in many different ways so I kept it!

5. Devon Pleated Mini Skirt (Loveappella)

This skirt is pictured above under the Renee C top.You can’t tell too well from this picture, but the skirt was a bit too large for me. With very little effort it slid up and down my waist. Wearing this skirt in public would cause anxiety because I would constantly be afraid that it would fall down. I’m not sure if the skirt size just ran large or if I may have dropped a pants size because of recent workouts. I’m going to claim the latter even if that isn’t necessarily the case.

Overall, I got a couple of new pieces to add to my vacation suitcase. I look forward to creating fun outfits using my new tops from my sixth Stitch Fix.

I’m really excited to share some big Stitch Fix news with you. Drum roll, please…

Stitch Fix now carries shoes. And not just ANY shoes. They carry name brand and designer shoes. Spoiler alert: I received some of my favorite shoes in this month’s fix.

Although my stylist was feeling a spring vibe as she assembled my personal box it has been breezy and blustery here in Ohio. This weekend I tried to get some outdoor shots in my new fix scores because even though it was windy and cold it did look beautiful. The photos below were taken in the middle of a wind storm so needless to say, it was fun and interesting. Grace for my blowing hair would be appreciated 🙂

Before I reveal my pieces let’s discuss Stitch Fix for a moment. Stitch Fix is an online personal stylist program. As the customer you begin by filling out a profile about yourself and your sizes on the Stitch Fix website. From this profile a team of stylists selects five unique pieces and sends them in the mail on a regular basis (the duration of which you can decide).

There is a $20 stylist fee for each fix that ships to your home. That fee can be applied to any pieces that you decide to keep from that shipment. The Stitch Fix company encourages you to try on every item. Anything that does not fit or that you don’t wish to purchase can be returned in a prepaid priority mail bag that is sent in each Stitch Fix at no cost to you. You have three days from the arrival of your box to complete the online checkout and resend any items you do not wish to keep. In order to checkout you must visit your account on their website and comment about each piece. If you choose not to keep something write why that piece was undesirable and that helps the stylists find better options in the future.

To start off my personal fix description I love how within each box there is always a personal note from my stylist. For this fix she discussed the spring appeal of each piece. She also gave me ideas about how to wear some of the garments.

This dress is a lot of fun. The pattern is very bold and lively, and I like the cinch sash which ties on the side to highlight my figure. The fabric is of great quality. However, I ended up passing on this deal for the shear fact that this dress was entirely too expensive for me. I could never pay out triple digits for a sun dress with a clear conscience so this one found itself packed back into the envelope provided by Stitch Fix. That was a hard decision.

2. Loveappella: Dewitt Lace Sleeve Henley Knit Top

This piece is comfortable and perfect for layering. I really liked the fit of this top and look forward to wearing this versatile top throughout several seasons.

Yes, you read that right and your eyes aren’t playing a trick on you. My Stitch Fix sent me new red TOMS. I’ve mentioned before the importance of including a link to pinterest and social media for your stylist. Mine mentioned a recent blog post of mine about TOMS in an email. These were perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Of course these TOMS made the cut!

4. Just USA: Morrie Boyfriend Denim Jacket

This jacket brought a little warmth to the photo snapping, however, I already own an extremely similar jacket so I sent this adorable piece back to the factory.

5. Market & Spruce: Spencer Striped Jersey DressDSC00114

This dress is perfection. I love the navy and white stripe design, the light fabric, and the way it fit my figure. It showed off some of my best features and remained cute and modest. Also, this was the most inexpensive bit of the whole box so it was practically a steal. I cannot wait for the temperatures to get warmer so I can get some wear out of this fun dress. I also love that it can be casual or more sophisticated based on shoes and accessories.

So, as always I was extremely pleased with my fix. I ended up with three new clothing items which I love and am excited to wear as the weather reflects its true season in the future.
