This is my friend Heather.

She is one beautiful woman that I am thankful for having crossed paths with in life. The first time I met her was in a Small Group that we visited years ago, and then we’ve continued to develop our friendship on the sidelines of soccer fields and basketball courts. Our kiddos are all close and we now attend church together as well. Heather is a beautiful soul who gives her ALL in everything she does. Her love for the Lord is also evident in the way she raises her boys and serves the children and families of our community.

I could go on and on about how much I admire her. She’s pretty fantastic.

Today, I want to give some love to her newest venture. Heather is the creative mind behind Indigo Roads Boutique.

Heather designs and creates earrings using genuine leather and a Cricut machine. Her designs are beautiful and fun and I just cannot get enough of them. Browsing her website has become one of my favorite pastimes. The things she can do with a little bit of leather and a blade blow my mind! When I think I’ve seen it all she comes out with a new design.

Over the past few months I’ve built up a collection for my daughter and I…

All of her earrings are lightweight, comfortable, versatile, and gorgeous. Whenever I wear them I get so many compliments. Of course, I carry around her business cards and hand them out whenever someone brings them up. I’m all about helping a friend in her small business and Heather makes that so easy with her awesome products.

Some of my favorites currently in her albums…

Origami Owl Genuine Leather Bracelet

One of my favorite parts of getting ready each day is accessorizing my look. I love to pair different pieces of jewelry with my outfits. Over the past couple of months I’ve shared some of my favorite pieces with you on the blog. Today, I would like to introduce you to my Origami Owl Genuine Black Leather Bracelet.

IMG_1674

If you are unfamiliar with the company, Origami Owl was started by a fourteen year old girl, Bella, who was seeking a way to save up money to purchase a car by the time she turned sixteen. She began to make and sell Living Lockets to people she knew. From there her idea took off and Origami Owl became one of the largest independent jewelry consultant companies.

One thing that makes my Origami Owl bracelet different from some of my others is that it expresses who I am. I picked out the color of the leather, the size of the locket, as well as the face of the locket from a few different options. Then, I was able to choose charms to place in my locket to further customize the piece.

My friend, Desiree (whom I’ve actually posted about on the blog last May) is a consultant for Origami Owl. She and her daughter Grace earn extra income through this company which pays for Grace’s volleyball club. If you are interested in purchasing anything from the company I would highly recommend doing so through the Origami Owl links on this post because then you will be supporting a wonderful, Christian family.

Here is a look at all the pieces that make up my personal Origami Owl Bracelet:

Stitch Fix #4

One of my favorite days of the month is the one when I arrive home from work to find my Stitch Fix package on the front porch. Most of the time I countdown to the day of its estimated arrival, however, this month has been so crazy that my Stitch Fix completely slipped my mind. So as I pulled into driveway on Friday afternoon and saw the lovely, bright tape on the outside of my box I instantly became excited. I found myself wondering about the contents of the box. I had messaged my stylist with a couple of suggestions, but was still surprised as I unwrapped the contents of my fix. This was my best Stitch Fix yet!

The weather in Ohio has taken a bit of a turn toward Spring (forget about the nine inches of snow we’ve received in the past twenty-four hours.) Apart from the bi-polar snow the sun has been bright and encouraging Spring fever. Through my dialogue with my personal Stitch Fix stylist I suggested some transitional pieces to help move my winter wardrobe to one more conducive to the rapid change in temperatures.

Each time I receive a fix I love to open my letter from my stylist before any of the items. The hints she drops in the letter always add to the anticipation.

The following is a look at the pieces I received this time around:

Each piece was exactly what I would have picked for myself. I know that the company uses an algorithm based on my results on a fashion quiz and they also follow my Pinterest board for ideas, but it still amazes me how well they handpick my style.

The first piece I tried on was the Carlito Dolman Knit Top. For the photo I paired the top with the Evina Spade Fringe Pendant. Adorable, right? This look is right on target for me.

Next, I paired the Mira Skinny Jean with Iglesia Pleated Blouse. This look is really versatile. It could be worn to work on a more casual day, for a night out with the girls, or on a family excursion. I completely loved the print of the top as well. It was bright and lends itself well to a spring wardrobe (although it doesn’t appear that way in this photo.)

Lastly, I tried on the Ellaine Open Cardigan. This was an extremely comfortable and breathable fabric. As a teacher cardigans are a staple to my wardrobe because they make just about any top instantly school appropriate. There is no such thing as a teacher having too many cardigans so again, thank you Stitch Fix for knowing me so well. Although I own a plethora of cardigans this one is unique.

It’s a little harder to see the pin-stripe in the photo above so here is a close-up of the detail in this cardigan.

So you may be asking which pieces I chose to add to my personal ensembles?

With this fix I decided to splurge a bit more than I normally would. I seriously contemplated purchasing all five pieces (because there is a 20% discount if you buy all five.) However, in the end I shipped back the skinny jeans and the necklace. Both were adorable, but both were also startlingly similar to pieces I already owned. I was really happy with my choices and the three new unique additions to my closet.

If I’ve piqued your interest at all and you would like to give Stitch Fix a shot please use this referral link to sign up. If you use my link I receive a $25.00 credit when they send your first fix. That’s a cool perk of using Stitch Fix. There are several discounts to the program to help make loving your wardrobe even more affordable.

Before you click away from my blog post today I would love to hear your feedback from my Stitch Fix. Leave a comment!

Alex and Ani

If you are tuned into the wonderful world of jewelry then you are familiar with the latest craze in bangle bracelets. Alex and Ani is one of the leading companies right now in the market. According to their website the company’s purpose is that it, “constantly strives to develop new, cutting edge techniques to create sustainable products to enhance the lives of consumers.” Their products range in styles and prices, but one of their most popular items is the bangle bracelet. Bangles start at $28.00.

The current trend is to build up and wear a collection of their bangles. I’m a newbie on the Alex and Ani scene. I received my first bracelet for Christmas. My parents purchased one for myself and each of my sisters. I love my Sister bangle. It is made from recyclable materials and is infused with energy technology. I’m excited to build up my collection of these affordable and cute bangles. To check out some of their other bracelets head over to the Alex and Ani website.

Black and White with a Pop of Color

FullSizeRender (3)

This week’s fashion post is going to take a look at a basic yet fun outfit. In the picture above I am wearing an Old Navy white tee, Sperry flip flops, and a Macy’s brand pair of black lace shorts. My favorite piece of the puzzle however is the pop of color added by my Coral and Pink Multi-Strand Bubble Beaded Bib Statement Necklace from BohoJewelBoutique on Etsy. I found this outfit to be comfortable and it fit the casual setting of running around and doing errands in the morning and celebrating my best friend’s birthday at BJ’s Brewery in the evening. I have a lot of fun in simple yet elegant outfits.

I also added a little color with my new travel purse from Target. I’m completely in love with this gem. All zipped up it is just a regular over the shoulder bag, but it houses several deep compartments that when opened up triples in size. I loved toting this bag around the airport as opposed to carrying a purse, baby bag, and first aid kit. It was like a 3-in-1. I highly recommend this bag for anyone with children.

The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day in England. I’m looking forward to some adventures today. Stay tuned for some updates on life in the UK over the next two weeks.

Blessings

I’m on the Mend

For over two weeks now at this point I have been battling some type of infection in my gall bladder. I’ve been exhausted at all times, not feeling like myself, and experiencing less than desirable symptoms most of the day. I am happy to say that my ultrasound relayed that things are getting better and I’m on the up and up. I have another test on Tuesday, but I am hopeful that it will be the end of the road for this illness.

I’m overjoyed to regain myself and my energy levels.

I’m not one to take selfies, but I decided since I was feeling better and I absolutely loved my Premier Jewelry set that I would do some classroom selfies yesterday. Enjoy the goofy pictures and be prepared to hear from me more often now that I have enough energy to think clearly enough to write. It’s been too long.
