Today, I am bringing you the final installment in my series based on the book The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron. Over the past several months, I have read this book and summarized the information for each of the nine Enneagram types in easy-to-understand graphics.
Although I have finished this particular text, there are a lot of tools out there for learning about the Enneagram personalities and the personal growth that occurs from knowing your type. I plan to continue this journey of learning and I will absolutely share more in the future about the Enneagram.
Enneagram Nine: The Peacemaker
Triad–The Anger or Gut Triad (8,9,1)
Security Number– When Nines are feeling healthy and balanced they lean into the positive attributes of a Three (The Performer).
Stress Number- When Nines are stressed and living in an unhealthy mind space, they take on the less desirable attributes of a Six (The Loyalist).
In 2015, I offered a look at how I pack and prepare for an international flight. Not much has changed over the years for my packing regimen. I now have two children instead of one, our world has undergone a pandemic, and I’m not sure that CDs are on the “to-pack” list of anyone in 2022, but other than those things…these tips still apply to international travel.
In honor of my family’s journey to England this week I wanted to reblog this post originally shared on June 30, 2015.
Jude knows what is to be raised by parents who were never present. Most of her childhood was spent reminding her career-drive mother of her own existence. Which is why she decided to be the most involved and approachable mother to her twins, Zach and Mia. Along with her husband, Miles, Jude builds a comfy life for her beautifully happy family in an affluent community.
Across the stream, within a collection of indigenous people’s mobile homes, Lexi is being raised by Aunt Eva. Determined to break the generational curse that landed her own mother in jail, Lexi vowed to create a better life for herself.
During their freshman year, Lexi and Mia hit it off and became inseprable friends. Each girl was exactly what the other needed and throughout high school they shared a special bond that grew only stronger with time. Jude opens her family’s home to Lexi and welcomes her as one of her own.
Senior year brings its usual pressures for the teens. Jude has worked hard to set her twins up for the perfect college and Lexi begins to complicate those plans when she falls in love with Zach. Jude is torn between wanting her children to be happy or succesful at the college of her dreams.
One night, after a wild senior party, tragedy strikes Jude’s family and she is thrust into unspeakable terror. In the days following she must choose once and for all how to protect her family at all costs.
This is a story about friendship, love, growing up, motherhood, loss, and redemption. There are so many aspects of life covered in this novel as it spans a couple of decades–the childhood and adolesence of Jude’s children. At times, it was easy to relate to Jude as a mother who wants the best for my girls, but at other times I saw the dangers of her “helicopter” approach to parenting and the way that affected her relationships. Night Road is a tale that cautions us to cling to those we love, but not so tightly that we strangle them.
I gave this book at 4/5 star rating. Although I can get behind anything by Kristin Hannah, there were parts of this book that seemed forced or unexplored. Without giving away too much of the plot, there was a trial that landed a teenager in jail for something I just don’t think is realistic. I found myself losing a little interest once I got to this portion of the story and I was less invested from there on out. But…Kristin Hannah is still a phenomenal writer in my opinion so the writing style kept me entertained. And her typicl twists and turns continued to surprise me until the final page.

It’s Friday and if you’ve been here for a while you know that means Five Minute Friday! On Fridays, I join other writers from around the globe to publish a post inspired by the same topic. This week, our prompt is Guess.
Guess what is coming up soon?
The Ameri Brit Mom is gearing up for the annual trip to England. The name of this blog comes from the fact that I am American married to a British man. We spend one month every year visiting his family and friends back in his hometown. Our trip is just a couple of weeks away and I guess you could say that we are getting excited.
While in England, we usually end up traveling quite a bit. Our homebase is with my father-in-law in Eastleigh (a borough of Southampton). My mother-in-law lives in Portsmouth. My sister-in-law is in Yeovil. And there are various family members scattered throughout in places like Brighton and Dover. I will be doing my usual posts which showcase our journey and travels while in England.
Here are some posts from last year to get you excited about what’s to come:
This is the first chapter of the novel I am currently working on. It’s a YA piece about a young girl who sets out along the Appalachain Trail in search of a missing person…and her purpose. All of her friends are headed to college soon, but Raven is staying behind to help run her parents’ Bed and Breakfast. This is a story about finding your true calling, coping with change, and finding the courage to succeed. I started working on this piece as part of my final portfolio in grad school. Only my graduate advisor and critique partner have seen this chapter and the others for this story. You can gain exclusive access to this 12 page chapter when you join my Patreon page.
Each month I publish a short story on my Patreon page for those readers who pledge $5 a month or more. If you would like to read this first chapter please consider joining my Patreon page.
In December of 2020, I embarked on a journey to curate a capsule wardrobe for myself. Inspired by Courtney Carver’s Project 333, I decided to clear out my closet and take a more ethical approach to clothing choices.
I’ve learned a few things and tailored the Project 333 approach to fit my needs and lifestyle. Below is The Ameri Brit Mom’s best tips for creating your own Capsule Wardrobe and a special template.
Tips to Start a Capsule Wardrobe
Begin by defining how long your capsule wardrobe will serve you. I live in the midwest and the weather cycles match the changing seasons. With that in mind, I kept the suggested timeline of 3 months for a capsule.
Set aside “out of season” clothing in a storage bin or tote out of sight. You will be less likely to go searching for a piece if it is out of the way.
Recycle or donate clothing that does not make the cut. If a piece makes it through a whole year without being in the capsule, it’s time to part ways.
Figure out a number of pieces that meets your needs. Consider events, holidays, or professional needs when setting those numbers. Project 333 would encourage 33 pieces, but I found that some seasons I needed more and others I needed less.
Try to stick to a neutral color scheme so that most pieces can be worn in combination together. It’s okay to have a few pieces with bright colors or prints, but the majority of the capsule should be on the neutral spectrum.
Benefits of a Capsule Wardrobe
Each day I spend far less time than I used to trying to “put an outfit together.” I can spend more time doing other things I enjoy rather than pondering over what to wear.
My eco-footprint is reduced because I own less and it takes less to power and energy to maintain the pieces in my wardrobe.
The choices I make in purchasing are based on comfort and durability and not on trends. This saves a lot of time and money!
Every day I am wearing one of my favorite pieces! I only keep those pieces that I absolutely LOVE. It’s not worth the time and space to hang on to pieces with sentimental value or that make me feel bad about my body shape or size. I love every piece and they each make me feel fantastic about ME.
Capsule Wardrobe Template
Are you interested in creating a capsule wardrobe for yourself?
I’ve taken everything I’ve learned since 2020 and made a template to help you get started on a capsule wardrobe journey.
You can download this template when you join my Patreon. I can also customize your template to meet your needs (FREE TO PATRONS!) In addition to gaining this template and others like it, you will be joining a community of supportive readers.
Patreon is helping The Ameri Brit Mom launch as a small business and is cultivating a direct relationship between myself as a creator and my community. Additionally, I offer writing and editing services monthly and a short story is published once a month that is exclusive to this group.
Whether you choose to join the Patreon or not, I hope that my tips have helped you to consider your own wardrobe. Are you happy with the amount you own? Do you love every piece? Is there a piece or two that you can get rid of today because it no longer serves your needs? That’s what capsule wardrobes are all about–conscious choices that simplify closet spaces.
Welcome back to another Five Minute Friday link-up post. Last week, I was in Disney World making memories with my family. Summer vacation is a great time to reset and enjoy moments with the ones we love. Today, I’m a littled stumped on how to address the prompt, so whatever you read below will be a total surprise to even me. I’m freewriting below with no outline and no prep. This week our prompt is Stir.
My heart is stirred to think about how so many people in our world feel that to be their true selves is to abandon faith and relationships. In the midst of Pride Month, I am stirred to remind each of you that ALL PEOPLE are worthy of love. What people decide to do in their bedrooms or who they choose to love is no concern of anyone else’s. I’m saddened to hear stories of members of the LGBTQ+ community who have left behind their faith because they felt unwelcome or unloved by those claiming to be Christ followers.
Jesus never would have treated people that way!
Whether you believe homosexuality is a sin or not there is no excuse for making another human feel unaccepted. In fact, Jesus spent most of his time with those that society had named outcasts.
This isn’t a political argument. Nor is it aimed at a particular group of religious individuals. Rather, I am appealing to everyone to show love to your fellow man. All humans should be afforded the space and respect to be their authentic selves without fear of abandonment or rejection from those who mean the most to them.
I am stirred to show love at all times.
May you also be stirred to show respect and love to EVERYONE in your life.
Things have been pretty quiet at The Ameri Brit Mom for the past week. My family and I ventured to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. During the trip, my goal was to be present in the moment and most days I didn’t use my phone except to snap photos for the memory books.
Summer vacation began with a bang and the trip couldn’t have been more perfect. One day I may write a post with all of the tips and tricks we learned from this adventure, but today I just want to share the iconic photos from our journey. Enjoy!
I spent this beautiful Sunday preparing my bullet journal pages for June. I used Canva and my own templates to create this month’s package. Teal is my favorite color and June is my favorite month so I paired the two up to design a teal watercolor theme for this month.
If you are interested in these easy-to-use calendar spreads, you can gain access to them via my Patreon page. If you join my Patreon, you contribute $5 a month toward the launch of a small business all while receiving exclusive content like bullet journal pages, freebies, and monthly short stories.
Hint: I print my bullet journal spreads on matte sticker paper so that I don’t have to mess with glue. All you need is sticker paper, pens, and a notebook and you are ready to conquer the month ahead!
Giving back creative gifts like this brings me so much joy as a creative entrepreneur. While my business mainly lies in Writing and Editing Services, I love using my creative juices to branch out and offer exclusive content for those who support the work being done at The Ameri Brit Mom.
